Surely it would be great if I take some time to introduce myself.
I am John W. Vander Velden, a retired farmer with forty-five years of sweat and soil in my rear view. Yet I have always been a storyteller, and so it might not seem as much of a jump for a storyteller to take up writing.
I began with short stories, just learning as the pages filled one after another. But by lucky circumstance I fell into a local group called Plymouth (Indiana) Area Writer’s Workshop. We support one another as together we hone our craft.
Flash forward: I have been part of that group for ten year and change, and I have been blogging for nine of those years. Over time I have had many essays published locally. But the writing that has me both proudest and keeps me humble are my two published novels, Misty Creek and its sequel Elizabeth’s Journey.
I am now working on a third volume of the series. More news about that later.
So I hope you will ride this journey with me.
John
